Aimed at those keen to experience real rock and gain further knowledge on how to do it safely, building on your current skills. This is an ideal introduction to the fantastic sport of climbing.
SO WHAT'S IT
ALL ABOUT?
With so much on offer in Snowdonia and its surrounding areas, it has to be one of the best places in the UK to climb, whether you fancy a route with a big mountain feel, an exciting sea cliff, a challenging sports route or just lots of traditional routes!
The emphasis of this course is introducing you to the core climbing skills working towards you becoming a self-reliant climber whilst enjoying as much rock as we can climb! We will aim to use a variety of locations each day, you’ll just need to bring your enthusiasm and a sense of adventure!

What will the course cover?
Over the 2 days we will look at:

Interpreting guidebooks and grades

Route choice and route finding

Coaching to develop and improve your climbing movement skills

Putting on and adjusting your harness including tying into it

Introduction to simple rope skills including the use of different knots and coiling ropes

Belaying using a belay plate

Use of technical climbing equipment

Personal abseiling using a belay plate and self-protection

Safe descents off the crag
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...
DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
No, ideally you will know how to tie in, belay and also having a reasonable level of fitness will allow you to get the most from your course, but you don’t have to have any previous experience of rock climbing.
WHO WILL RUN MY COURSE?
All courses are run by myself, occasionally if I have to use another Instructor then I will inform you of that. I don’t use instructors unknown to me or who aren’t close friends. The small team that I use are equally as qualified, experienced and keen to share their enthusiasm of the mountains in a relaxed and safe manner.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
All specialist equipment such as harnesses, helmets can be provided however if you have your any of your own technical gear then you are welcome to bring it along. I will send you a detailed kit list once you confirm your place.
WHERE DO WE MEET?
All my courses are run in Snowdonia from Llanberis or Capel Curig. I will confirm the time and place when you reserve your place.​
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
All instruction and specialist equipment like ropes and climbing hardware.
