SO WHAT'S IT
ALL ABOUT?
The sea cliffs of the UK can at times appear intimidating and adventurous and these two days aim to equip you with a set of skills to plan your day out and deal with unplanned situations.
This is a sample programme and is subject to change based on weather and sea conditions.
DAY 01
After spending some time considering the weather and tides we will head to a single pitch sea cliff. We'll examine the sea state and explore the top of the cliff to ensure we're about to abseil into the correct area. We'll encounter in-situ gear and we can discuss the judgement on using this and also your care and maintenance of your own kit after use in this environment.
There are different approaches to accessing the bottom of the cliff and we can explore this along with your personal safety whilst at the bottom of the cliff. The best way out is to climb one of the many classic routes, however, you need to have the skills to ascend the abseil rope and perhaps to assist your second out too if things haven't quite gone to plan.
And we’ll get maximum mileage on the rock too!
DAY 02
The theme of managing your double ropes on the belay stances will continue along with all the skills learnt the previous day. If the conditions are suitable we'll head over towards a multi-pitch sea cliff area. It is anticipated that you will have the opportunity to lead over the two days
The aim would be to use different locations each day and we will probably combine single and multi-pitch environments over the two days.
