Ideal for anyone who wishes to leads groups on day walks in across some of the UK’s best countryside, this is your 1st step to becoming a Hill and Moorland Leader.

WHAT DOES THE COURSE COVER?
The Hill & Moorland Leader Syllabus is delivered over 3 days in North Wales practically on the hill each day. The course is designed to demonstrate your responsibilities to the group and how to competently and effectively keep them safe, whilst giving them a superb day out!
This is a sample programme and is subject to change based on weather.
The next stage is now to go and explore new hills and moorland areas and put all these new skills into practise before you return for your assessment at some point in the future. Mountain Training recommend that it’s no earlier than 3 months, many people use it as an excuse for lots of adventures!

WHERE DO WE MEET?
We will normally meet you in Capel Curig at 0900, we will confirm the time and place when you reserve your place.
All instruction by an approved Mountain Training provider.
WHAT"S NOT INCLUDED
You will need to complete a booking form and full payment will need to be made at the time of booking.

DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
You must be at least 18 years old
You should have at least a year’s worth of experience of hill walking
You should have an interest in leading groups in the hills
You must be registered on the Hill and Moorland Leader scheme
You must have recorded a minimum of 20 Quality Hillwalking Days on appropriate terrain, ideally on the Digital Logbook which can have taken place at any point (pre- or post-registration)
WHO WILL RUN MY COURSE?
All courses are run by myself, occasionally if I have to use another Instructor then I will inform you of that. I don’t use instructors unknown to me or who aren’t close friends. The small team that I use are equally as qualified, experienced and keen to share their enthusiasm of the mountains in a relaxed and safe manner.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
You should ensure you are appropriately equipped to spend a couple of days walking.
