DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE TO DO MY TRAINING?

Yes you will need to fulfill the pre-requirements:
Have a genuine interest in rock climbing and the supervision of groups on single pitch crags
Have at least twelve months experience of rock climbing and have climbed at least 15 graded rock climbs where the protection is leaderplaced.
Be not less than 18 years of age at the date of registration
Be registered with the Home Nation Board, either MTC, MTE, MTS or MTNI

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

You should ensure you are appropriately equipped to spend 2 days climbing, so a rope, harness, climbing rack, helmet and climbing shoes are essential. I will send you a detailed kit list when you confirm your place.

WHAT WILL THE COURSE COVER?

All my courses are run in Snowdonia and I will meet you in  either Capel Curig or Llanberis. I will confirm the time and place when you reserve your place .

WHAT WILL THE COURSE COVER?

The Single Pitch Award Syllabus is delivered over the 2 days practically on the crag and supported by mini lectures. This is a sample programme and is subject to  change based on weather.

DAY 1

After an introduction to the Award we will head out onto the crag and look at the different approaches to setting up rope systems for groups and do some climbing!

DAY 2
A mini lecture identifying why its important to know how to access crags and look after them will start the day. At a different crag the subject of personal and group abseils will be covered, before heading to the local climbing wall. Indoors is a perfect opportunity to consider how we manage groups and how a SPA day might look! The course finishes with individual debriefs.
